growing body of research demonstrates that individuals who experience trauma, particularly in childhood, have much higher incidences of chronic disease and behavioral health issues.1,2,3 Advocates of trauma‐informed care suggest that to fully address patients’ needs, health care providers and delivery systems must recognize the role that trauma plays in the lives of their patients and adjust treatment approaches accordingly.
